How To Plant A Garden

Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul.

Plant four rows of squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness.

Plant four rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be obedient
Lettuce really love one another.

No garden is without turnips:
Turnip for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnip to help one another.

Water freely with patience
and cultivate with love.

There is much fruit in your garden
Because you reap what you sow.

To conclude our garden
we must have thyme:
Thyme for reflection
Thyme for study
Thyme for prayer

April 24, 2000 -- Looking out my windows it is so wonderful to see the new green all around, so new and alive and fresh. Today the sky is blue, with those big fluffy white clouds, there's a bit of a breeze. People are driving around with their windows all the way down, I saw a couple of convertibles on my way home from work. I've heard a few motorcycles out today as well.
My son and I planted Sunflowers for the Cardinals on the 13th. I have some more to plant, but my neighbor has asked me not to. Seems she doesn't like sunflowers. Since we share a yard, I'll have to comply, and grow what I can grow in containers on my deck.
This weekend will be the planting weekend. :)

5-21-2000 The sunflowers that we planted are about 6" tall now. We got a few nice little rainstorms over the weekend, then the sun would come out, but not hot enough to steam the little guys.
My container plants out on the deck are doing well, too. I'm happy to say that my Coleus, that I had to cut way back, is popping new little leaves.
