Sharing Thoughts

In my life I've carried many burdens, as we all have. Everyday worldly worries that plague you from the moment you awake from your fitful sleep and weigh you down the entire day.

Crisis after crisis...It was neverending... Parenting Stuff, Kid Stuff, Job Stuff, Car Stuff, the list just went on and on and on.

Until one day, I discovered that no matter how much I "worried" about these things, they always worked out...the way they were supposed to and when they were supposed to.

I was in the shower (I get most of my messages there), when I got the message -- "If you'll just let Me worry about that stuff, I can fix it better than you can."
I thought about that for a little bit, and decided that, yeah it would work. So I did. I handed those burdens right over to Him, with a breath of thanks. Then, in the next few days, everytime I would get that worryness, I'd remind myself that God was taking care of that, and I feel a lightness in my heart and know that I was right. And it works! If you dwell on the negative things that are happening in your life, you just draw more and more negative stuff to you. If instead, you are looking forward to the day, and feel good about what you are doing, then more and more positive things are drawn to you.

Give it a try. Give it up, and let God take care of it. Believe that your prayers will be answered. And they will.

"Worry is like a rocking chair:
It gives you something to do,
but doesn't get you anywhere."

Subject: Don't Worry

Good Morning,
I am the Lord your God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help. If the devil happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, DO NOT attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFJTD (Something For Jesus To Do) box. It will be addressed in MY time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold on to it or attempt to resolve it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem. If it is situation that you think you are capable of handling, please consult me in prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution. Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest my child. If you need to contact me, I am only a payer away.
Love Eternally.

March, 2000

This past year has been a difficult one, with Financial Stuff and Home Stuff going on, and there's been quite a few times I had the sneaking suspicion that my faith was being tested. I felt as stretched as I could be. Walking home one morning, feeling quite powerless, unable to do anything about a problem I was dealing with, it was all I could do to not just bust out bawling. But I was steadfast in my faith. I remember thinking, "You can keep trying me, but I will still rely on You. A few more steps taken, I heard the question -- "So, do you still trust Me? Do you still think I'll fix this?" I looked up and answered aloud, with a smile, "Of course, I'm counting on it!"
The very next day, our Home Stuff was taken care of in a much grander way than if I'd tried to figure it all out. This allowed me to take care of the Financial Stuff without a problem.

I'll take this moment to offer up a public "Thank You!" :)

That same night, in the most peaceful sleep I had enjoyed in months, I had a very special dream. I was visited by my paternal grandparents, both of whom have been gone for a very long time. Oh, but they were so much younger than I remember them, but I knew who they were, and their smiles were so beautiful. My grandmother took my face in her hand, even in my sleep I could feel how good and loving my grandparent's spirits are. It was a feeling that I've never felt before, and I would love to feel it again. I can sometimes, like now, when I am writing about it or telling someone about, I feel so much Love.

They wanted to tell me that they had been the ones that helped me get the things I needed to carry on. They had led me to people that would be understanding and help me. That they were proud of me and who I have become, and they loved my children. They told me that my Grandma Baker was busy healing my mother.

And then they were gone, but they left me with a most beautiful feeling.

August 1999

My mother has colon cancer. She's been through a couple of surgeries, pneumonia, radiation and chemo-therapy since May '99. I know that she is going to be ok. I've already been told that. The day the cancer was discovered I began to pray right away. I felt a touch on my arm, and heard the words, "She'll be alright." She's strong willed, strong minded, and determined. Right now, though, she's in a lot of pain. I know that God, and the spirit of my maternal grandmother, my cousin, and my little aunt who died at the age of 4, is working on her healing, and I know that the healing is the hardest part.

Please say a prayer for my mother to overcome her pain, to be able to put it behind her, a little every day...and to regain her strength of body.

Update. It is November now, the month to be thankful, and we are so blessed that Mom is still with us. Chemotherapy is hard on a person. She's had tremendous weight fluctuations, good days, and bad days, but the good outweighs the bad by far. When a family member is ill, the whole family suffers with them, not so much physically, but their world doesn't quite spin as it used to, it's a little off balace. Mom's illness has made us realize how important we all are to each other, and to not wait to say "I Love You" but to say it often. To Not hold back hugs and kisses, but to give them freely.

Her pain is not so great as it was, She is regaining her strength of body, slowly but surely. Sure, she has more treatments to endure. And there are still discomforts to go through...but she can sit up straight and tall again.

Please continue to pray for my mother, Jean, for her continuing recovery.

And if there is someone out there that you love, but haven't told time for awhile because "you know they know it," go ahead and give them a call, or better yet, pay them a visit and tell them. It is always nice to hear! Don't wait, regrets have a way of sneaking up on you.

Thank you, and May God bless you and yours! :)

January, 2000. Mom continues to heal. My faith remains strong and true. The emails, cards and prayers we have received are so appreciated. We thank you all for the love and concern we have felt from all of you.

Mom loves this poem!

Have you ever watched kids,
on a Merry Go Round,
Or listened to the rain Dropping on the ground?

Ever watched a butterflies
erractic flight,
or gazed at the sun
into the fading night?

You better slow down,
Don't dance so fast,
time is short
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask, "How are you?"
Do hear the reply?

When the day is done
do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores
running through your head?

You'd better slow down,
don't dance so fast,
time is short,
the music wont last.

Ever told your child,
"We'll do it tomorrow..."
and in your haste,
not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
let a good friendship die,
cause you never had time
to call and say "HI!"

you'd better slow down,
don't dance so fast,
time is short,
the music won't last.

When you run so fast
to get somewhere,
you miss the fun
of getting there,

When you worry and hurry
through your day
it is like an unopened gift,
thrown away.

Life is not a race,
do take it slower,
hear the music,
before the song is over.

When you are tired and discouraged from fruitless efforts...
God knows how hard you have tried.

When you've cried so long and your heart is in anguish...
God has counted your tears.

If you feel that your life is on hold
and time has passed you by...
God is waiting with you.

When you're lonely and your friends are too busy
even for a phone call...
God is by your side.

When you think you've tried everything
and don't know where to turn...
God has a solution.

When nothing makes sense
and you are confused or frustrated...
God has the answer.

If suddenly your outlook is brighter
and you find traces of hope...
God has whispered to you.

When things are going well
and you have much to be thankful for...
God has blessed you.

When something joyful happens
and you are filled with awe...
God has smiled upon you.

When you have a purpose to fulfill
and a dream to follow...
God has opened your eyes and called you by name.

Remember that wherever you are
or whatever you are facing...

by A.W. Palmer

I looked in the mirror and I said
"I'm fat."
God answered and said
"You're beautiful."

I looked within and I said
"I'm sinful."
The Father answered and said
"You're forgiven."

I looked for friendship and I said
"I'm lonely."
Jesus answered and said
"You're mine."

I looked for satisfaction and love and I said
"I'm empty"
The Holy Spirit answered and said
"You're filled."

I looked for love and I said
"I'm undesirable."
God answered and said
"You're precious."

I looked to God and I said
"I need You."
He answered and said
"I'm here."

Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.
